Giulio Tremonti, former Minister of Economy and Finance in Italy who worked under under Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi from 1994 to 1995, from 2001 to 2004, from 2005 to 2006, and from 2008 to 2011, has spoken about RedBird's purchase of majority shares of AC Milan.

Here are his words, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport:

"I have read about the conclusion of this deal. But, I didn't go too far on the matter... But I would like to add one thing, which is more than anything else a reflection on this wave of new investors, especially foreigners, who are focusing on Italian football."

"I would like to underline that all the funds that decide to invest in the world of football are interested in building their own stadiums. It is a central theme in these mega investments."

Giulio Tremonti was asked if this also applies to RedBird and AC Milan, to which he answered:

"The Milan stadium is certainly one of the main interests of this American fund, even if in this case Mayor Sala does not seem willing to give the stadium to just one of the two city teams. In general, the possibility of building one's own “home” is something that appeals to anyone in this sector, beyond foreign funds. After all, Real Madrid has also focused a lot on its stadium, it is a well-known path."
