Franco Ordine, well-known Italian journalist has expressed his opinion about the situation at Casa Milan regarding Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara's contract extensions.
The journalist spoke to the microphones of Tutti Convocati and had the following words to say:
"They (Milan) have no concern for timing, They pretend there is no calendar these days. I think this period will be remembered as the greatest own goal in history from a communication point of view. If someone read the newspapers now without knowing what happened, they would think that Milan finished eighth and that Inter won the second star."
Franco Ordine on the fans' reactions:
"They are not angry, but lost. It is hard to find a ratio for such behavior. There are no saints or devils in this story. Everyone has their share of responsibility. Maldini's? From my point of view, it is that of having poisoned the water from the well with that interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. I thought that something so important could be discussed in private."
Franco Ordine concluded:
"(Gerry) Cardinale is the one who, according to my point of view, behaved according to the right criteria. The explanation of the delay resulting from the change of ownership is partly correct. There was an error of assessment, perhaps not knowing the character of Maldini. After the interview, he was convinced that this would have the sense of an indirect confirmation and instead, evidently, this was not the case."
