Winning the Champions League doesn't necessarily make a player or a coach great. This is a thought of José Mourinho, manager of Tottenham, who, to support his thesis, cited perhaps one of the most incredible cases in the history of the most prestigious club competitions at European level:
"Winning means making history, but there are great coaches who have not won the Champions League. Sometimes it can happen even with the players: for me, the most incredible player of the last 20 years is Ibrahimovic. He is still a fantastic player despite being 39 and never winning the Champions League. It can happen, but that doesn't mean you're not a phenomenal manager or player. What takes a manager to the next level is success in the big leagues."
