Ismael Bennacer has turned into a crucial element of AC Milan especially after the exit of Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessié. The club directors are aware of his importance and would like to keep him for a few more years beyond his current contract's expiry which is in June 2024.
The renewal talks have began since the start of the 2022 year. Back then, the agreement seemed easier to reach. However, after advice from his agent, Ismael Bennacer decided to put the negotiations with AC Milan on hold due to two reasons: first, to understand the interest of the English clubs and if any important offers should arrive and to also see the intention of the club under new owners.
The parties have always remained in contact and encouraging signs have arrived in the last few days, writes Calciomercato.com. The agreement is not yet total but there are grounds for reaching it soon. A meeting is even scheduled during this break with agent Moussa Sissoko who looks after the interests of Ismael Bennacer.
Milan are leaning towards reaching 4.5 million euros net per season plus bonuses compared to the current 1.6, a new proposal which is not far from the request. Some details will then have to be resolved, such as the one relating to the 50 million release clause.
AC Milan's director, Paolo Maldini, really wants to keep Ismael Bennacer at the club and he intends to close the deal in December. Perhaps that can happen in the next meeting between the club and the agent.
