Speaking to the microphones of Sky Sport Italia, Manuele Baiocchini had these words to say about AC Milan's attempts at renewing Ismael Bennacer's contract:
"The spotlights are on the renewals of Leao and Bennacer. Paolo Maldini, in recent days, confirmed that he would have liked to close the renewal of Leao before the World Cup, but it was not possible. Milan will try again after the World Cup. During this break, the Rossoneri will try to keep Bennacer. There is talk of a contract worth 3-3.5 million euros per season; therefore a much lower figure than what Leao is asking for. Bennacer earns less than Leoa, so it's easier to sign the Algerian."
The journalist added:
"Precisely in this World Cup break, contacts will continue to try to reach an agreement with the former Empoli player."
