When the Rossoneri started the summer transfer window, there was much hope that the team would be able to keep the same enthusiasm and energy which won them the Scudetto, a title that hadn't graced the club's trophy cabinet for about 11 years.
Now, the same said energy and enthusiasm have significantly dropped. The loss of Franck Kessié without replacing him with a similar profile has not helped. The club decided to bet on youngsters once again. But this time, not much of a contribution has been noticed from the newcomers.
The majority of the fans would agree that Milan became weaker this season. One victory in 6 games (9 if you count the friendlies) clearly mean that something is wrong at the Milanello sports center. The schedule of the Rossoneri, looks very tough and intense: stubborn sides Sassuolo and Torino will be faced and between them there is a derby against the 'cousins' from the other side of the town. Then, there is also a Champions League fixture against Antonio Conte's Tottenham. All these games are spread from January 29 to February 14 and you can keep track of all AC Milan live scores on Flashscore.
The ship that is AC Milan must be steadied. Meanwhile Paolo Maldini continues to insist that Stefano Pioli is indeed the right man for the mission as he said after the shocking 4-0 loss against Lazio: "Confidence in Pioi? This is a question which I was hoping not to hear. I have to answer you yes.”
The January transfer campaign may very well end with Milan not making any further signings. But, a lot can be done to fix the squad internally. Il Diavolo must recover the players from the long injury list. They must also try to accelerate the talks for the renewal of stars like Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao in order to confirm their importance, motivate them and improve the depressing mood for the fans who, unlike at the start of the season, are becoming a little pessimistic. However, AC Milan remain second in the league, at least for now, and there are so many games and challenges to prepare for this year.
