As per La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper in this morning's print edition AC Milan's Olivier Giroud is Europe's oldest player to be involved in over 10 goals. Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is ready for the upcoming match against Atalanta and at 41, he poses a threat to the record held by former Italian defender Costacurta.
Divock Origi, on the other hand, is not faring well in the Milan squad as he only managed to make one successful pass during the Monza game, an all-time low for him. Ibra and Giroud, who have a combined age of 77, form the oldest strike partnership in Serie A.
Prior to the international break, Giroud had an impressive average of 0.5 goals per game in Serie A, which has now dropped to 0.18 since the league resumed. Ibra is ready for his return to San Siro for the first time since May 10th of last year, but his fitness is a concern. AC Milan's scoring rate has also dropped significantly from 1.8 goals per game in February to 0.8, so "big" strikers are needed to improve the team's performance.
