The curiosity was high after an impressive pre-season, but Yacine Adli is the second least used player in the AC Milan squad behind Mirante, with only 114 minutes in Serie A. The 22-year-old midfielder is paying the price of strong competition in his role, with Brahim Díaz and Charles De Ketelaere are higher up in the pecking order, and his attributes not fully fitting Pioli's style of play, writes Calciomercato.com.

Yacine is an intelligent and ambitious young player. He is aware that he needs to develop his game to carve out a place for himself. He is working hard in training while waiting for an opportunity. The Algerian midfielder's qualities are well known, and loan offers were not lacking in January from Sampdoria, Cremonese, and several French clubs, but the response was always the same: a rejection.

As per the source, the decision to reject the offers was due to a conversation between Yacine Adli and Paolo Maldini, almost like a father-son talk. The Rossoneri technical director urged the Frenchman to be patient and work hard, as the club has faith in him and is convinced that his qualities will come to the fore sooner or later.

The former Girondins de Bordeaux talent feels an integral part of the group, has bonded with everyone at Milanello, and does not want to be defined as a mere 'passing meteor'. Adli's belief is that he can become an important player for Milan, a sign for the future.
