Francesco Squeri, the mayor of San Donato Milanese, expressed his thoughts on AC Milan's stadium project to 'Il Cittadino':
"AC Milan's stadium will be an unprecedented opportunity for the city. When I take an evening stroll with my wife, I meet young people, even teenagers, who refer to AC Milan's facility and say to me, 'Mayor, stay strong!' Furthermore, I believe that the vast majority of shopkeepers are in favour of the stadium."
Do you believe that the realisation of the stadium in San Donato is now certain?
"We know that AC Milan has not yet ruled out the possible alternative, and at the same time, we still have to go through the instructional phase of the project, after which the request for a variation will have to come before the city council: there are still no absolute certainties, but there is a strong interest from the club, which was formalised with the submission of documentation to the municipality by SporLifeCity."
What do you say to those who oppose it?
"I say that the concerns are legitimate, and I am ready for a discussion based on actual documents and data. I am only disappointed when I see incorrect information being spread, such as the unfounded hypothesis that 15,000 parking spaces will be built in the Parco Sud area, when in reality we are talking about a maximum of 750 spaces."
Are there any aspects that concern you?
"I am certainly aware that we will need to work extensively on the roads and transportation to mitigate any potential inconveniences."
