Gigio Donnarumma is now represented by Enzo Raiola who spoke to Tuttosport about he started working with the current Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper. Here are his words:
"It was in 2010 when Mino, to introduce me to the world of football, told me, 'Start getting to know some people and do it from your own territory because the most important thing in this job is to build a relationship of trust between people, because a player must trust you 100%'. In the south, at that time, the best talents were found in football schools and, thanks to Stefano, a collaborator of ours who managed one in Torre Annunziata, I found myself following a match against 'Club Napoli' where Gigio was playing with boys three years older. Stefano had already told me that he was a goalkeeper out of the ordinary: he was right. So I started following him, while Mino met him in Brescia, where he had gone for a trial, when he was 12 years old. According to the rules, boys under 14 couldn't move out of their region and their parents had to go too. Mino talked to the father, Alfonson and told him, 'Forget it, your son is strong and he will make it, don't worry'."
Enzo Raiola continued to talk about the goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma:
"With him were also the Esposito brothers who would stay and then go to Inter. The fact is, everyone, especially Juventus and Inter, wanted Gigio, but he, being a fan of Milan and with a brother already playing there in the youth sector, wanted to go only there. The right call came from Bianchessi, who convinced Galliani at all costs to invite the Donnarumma family the day before he was supposed to go to Inter. And so it was done, and Gianluigi signed the contract. Think about how life is: even Genoa had gone crazy for him on the recommendation of Spinelli who was coaching Perin there and told Preziosi, 'Take him, this is a phenomenon'. Then Donnarumma found Spinelli again at PSG as the goalkeeper coach...".
