Fikayo Tomori, AC Milan's centre-back has spoken to BBC Radio 5 Live from the England national team training camp. Here are his words, as relayed via Milan News.

"Now that we have two games as already qualified, I think it's a good opportunity for players who haven't played much or want to stake their claims for the Euros. It's the perfect opportunity. In the last camp, I managed to play a game, my first at Wembley, and it was enjoyable. It's a positive step in the right direction for me, and I hope in this camp, I can do another one and play in a qualifying match."

There is tough competition to overcome.

"Obviously, John (Stones) and Harry (Maguire) are really high-level players and have been for the coach (Southgate) for several years. So, from my side, I'm coming in and trying to push them as much as possible, showing the manager what I can do."

How important has AC Milan been for the National Team? Tomori replied:

"When I was 21, I was called up for the first time, made some appearances off the bench... then after the Covid year, I wasn't playing much, so naturally, I wasn't called up. Then I went to Milan and was in some camps, out of some camps. But this season has started really well, and I've managed to play some games and have come to every camp."

Can you tell us about your approach to the new season? Tomori answered:

"This season has started really well, and this is my third consecutive camp. So I'm really, really happy with how things are going, and I think now it's just about staying consistent, trying to get into the next camp and the one after that and the one after that."
