The former doctor at AC Milan, Gianluca Melegati, gave an interview to Corriere della Sera and talked about the many injuries in today's football.
"The issue lies with muscle injuries; all high-level teams playing many matches suffer from them, but there's an explanation: the speed, pressing, and short sprints have increased. The demands have grown. It's necessary to find a balance between the workload on the field and in the gym."
On AC Milan's injury problems:
"I know Dr. Mazzoni; I know he's extremely attentive to prevention and recovery management. However, the blame falls either on the medical or technical area. Rest becomes crucial; if you're poorly hydrated or have few hours of sleep, the risk of injury increases."
