Mauro Tassotti gave an interview to the microphones of La Gazzetta dello Sport to talk about the current moment of AC Milan.
Here are his words:
On the injury emergency:
"Training more is difficult; there's no time between one match and another. A coach must have the strength to rest those who are tired, but it's not easy, I assure you. MilanLab could warn us about the injury risk for Kakà, Maldini, Nesta, or another champion, but... if there's a derby that Sunday or Milan vs. Juve, what do you do?"
On Theo Hernandez as a central defender:
"He's good, but I would like to see him wide as soon as possible. His quality and speed are too important."
On the January transfer market, Tassotti said:
"I think a central defender is indispensable; there's only one left... Then a decision must be made about Jovic because you can't always ask Giroud to play three high-level matches in a week. A piece of advice to the club? I say Sudakov, whom I had in the Ukrainian national team. I read that there's talk about him, and he's interesting to me. Of course, I know it's difficult to bring him here from Ukraine."
On Stefano Pioli's continuation and Paolo Maldini's exit:
"Pioli deserves to stay. You can't ask much more of him than what he's done; he's valorized many players and won a league title when no one expected it. Maldini's departure? In my opinion, it was wrong to let him and Massara go; they achieved great results. Those who invest the money do as they please, but still..."
On Milan's objective, Tassotti said:
"They'll fight until the end for a Champions League spot, beyond that... we'll see. Does it depend on Leao? I have the impression that Leao is judged too much for his somewhat laid-back, carefree attitude, which is actually his way of being."
He continued::
"It doesn't mean Leao is not committed. Right now, he's not playing for the goal but for the beauty of the game, but he'll soon understand that he can score a goal per match. Maturity will come; I'm convinced of it."
