For AC Milan, the goal difference has gone from +18 (2020-2021) to +15 (2021-2022), then to +14 (2022-2023), and now to +8 (2023-2024). As pointed out by La Gazzetta dello Sport, this is the worst start since Pioli has been coaching Milan, and in Bergamo, there was a clear impression that several players are confused, disoriented by absences, high rhythms, and game plans changing every three days.

Newcastle, Pioli's Milan's opponent on Wednesday evening at the St. James's Park stadium has lost two consecutive away games in the Premier League, first 0-3 at Everton's home and then 1-4 against Tottenham.

They have lost their starting goalkeeper to injury. So, if Milan plays well, there's nothing to fear. Provided Milan has one of its European nights and a Rafael Leão, returning after a month, in at least a decent condition.
