The destiny of AC Milan was not in their hands last night, and despite their victory in Newcastle, the doors to the Champions League have closed for the Rossoneri.
As reported by Tuttosport, the "demotion" to the Europa League is a setback for Milan, resulting in a loss of over 100 million euros in their budget.
Considering the last European campaign, the 2022-23 season, the Rossoneri earned 127 million euros in UEFA prizes and stadium earnings, while this season, the prizes amount to 60 million euros. But that's not all; Milan also bids farewell to the 2025 Club World Cup (which would have brought in an extra 50 million euros), where Inter has already qualified, leaving the last spot reserved for Italian teams to be contested between Juventus and Napoli.
Adding it all up, it results in 100 million euros less, a significant sum that will certainly be a factor when evaluating Pioli's performance, unless there's an impressive run in the Europa League.
