Tuttosport confirms yesterday's report about Milan being ready for the Under 23 team and explains that The Milan Under 23 project is moving forward at full speed, but with the awareness that factors beyond the will of Milan will also be needed for the Rossoneri's second team to register for the Serie C championship for the 2024-25 season.

As of today, Milan is in pole position to join Juventus and Atalanta in the realm of Under 23 teams, considering the criteria for promotion to complete the squads in the Italian third tier: last season's standings, the number of spectators, and the number of players called up to the national team between under 15 and under 21.

The emerging news is that Inter, despite being ahead of Milan in the mentioned criteria, will not form an Under 23 team for several reasons, which favours the Rossoneri further. Recent contacts with Matteo Marani, president of Lega Pro, have also taken place, and the arrival of Milan would be welcomed, depending on the withdrawal of at least one of the teams entitled to participate in the upcoming Serie C championships.

Why is Milan moving in this direction?

There are multiple reasons. The first, which also motivated Juventus and Atalanta, is related to the internal development of their players without having to loan them to other teams. It is increasingly common for young players temporarily transferred from big clubs to Serie B or C clubs to be sidelined in favour of more experienced players after an initial period of use. There are few cases where a young player is given the right time to make mistakes and mature. In this regard, Milan has had rare cases of constant usage in Matteo Gabbia (29 appearances and 1 goal for Lucchese) and Tommaso Pobega (loans with a total of 115 appearances between Ternana, Pordenone, Spezia, and Torino).

Additionally, FIFA regulations have imposed a limit on the number of players that can be loaned out, preventing the creation of increasingly rare 'satellite clubs.' Therefore, to see a player like Francesco Camarda mature at home, waiting for him to be ready for the first team, it may no longer be necessary to send him away on a loan transfer.

Everything will depend on the space available in June for Milan's Under 23 to officially take shape.
