In the sixteenth minute of today's Serie A clash between AC Milan and Bologna, the match came to a momentary standstill - a powerful pause echoing the Rossoneri’s resolute stand against discrimination, as the Club champions a call for change.

Among the 70,000 attendees, every single fan actively engaged in the initiative, transforming the stadium into a sea of light with the torches on their smartphones. This collective act accompanied the projection of a poignant quote by Martin Luther King on the big screen: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that!”

Beyond the spectators and the 165 accredited journalists in the stadium who directly experienced and actively participated in the initiative, the impactful message conveyed by the Club today resonated globally. It reverberated across over 150 countries and territories, connecting with viewers worldwide tuning in to follow the game. This widespread coverage not only enhanced the reach of AC Milan's powerful statement but also contributed to reaching over 550 million Rossoneri around the world and all football fans, helping to continue shining a light on the issue of discrimination.

Giorgio Furlani, CEO of AC Milan, said: “Today's initiative is a tangible testament to our unwavering commitment in the battle against hate and racism. As a Club, we hold zero tolerance for discrimination. Through our RespAct Manifesto, we persistently strive to make football an inspiring and inclusive model for everyone. We dedicate ourselves daily to fostering an environment that embraces diversity wholeheartedly, without distinctions. We are grateful to the Italian Football Federation, Lega Serie A, Bologna FC for their support in making this impactful statement possible, and to everyone embracing this crucial message for change.”

This initiative aims to further emphasise AC Milan's continual endeavors in combating all forms of discrimination, in line with the core values of social equity, equality, and inclusivity outlined in the RespAct Manifesto. This Manifesto serves as a catalyst, encouraging all stakeholders in the football realm, especially the new generation of fans, to foster a culture of inclusivity and social awareness. The ultimate goal is to contribute to shaping a football industry that is increasingly tolerant, open, and responsible.
