Today's print edition of the daily Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport discussed the AC Milan stadium project in the San Donato area and published the following words:
"Stadium in San Donato, new problem: here comes the referendum."
Yesterday morning, the No Stadium Committee submitted a request for a consultative referendum regarding the project for AC Milan's new stadium to be built in the San Francesco area of the Municipality of San Donato Milanese.
"Do you, citizens of San Donato Milanese, want a sports and commercial intervention, including the establishment of a new football stadium, to be built on the municipal territory of San Donato Milanese?"
This is the very direct question that the promoters intend to submit to all residents of San Donato.
The mayor of San Donato, Francesco Squeri, also commented on the referendum: "We are facing a very important choice, and it is right that the population can express themselves. It is no coincidence that among the signatories of the referendum proposal, there are also citizens who have not yet formed a clear position, either in favor or against, regarding the stadium."
