Giorgio Furlani, the AC Milan CEO, spoke like this to Sky Sport Italia microphones before the Europa League challenge against Rennes:
On the fans:
"They're always very passionate. We've never won the Europa League, so we'll try to honour the competition and our fans."
On Stefano Pioli:
"He's one of the few coaches to have reached 100 victories with Rossoneri. Pioli has had a fantastic journey. The relationship between the coach and the club is phenomenal. He's secure on our bench."
On Serie A, Furlani said:
"In Italy, football isn't treated as an industry, so we can't be competitive at the European level. We fought our battle on the growth decree, but we lost it. There are other rules and laws that put us at a disadvantage compared to the rest of Europe. Without systemic work, we'll never be able to return to the top of Europe. That's the sad reality."
On Mike Maignan and Olivier Giroud's renewals:
"Oli arrived and signed for two years, then extended for another year because he had performed very well. Maybe it's a bit early, but the door is open if he wants to stay. Maignan? He's one of the best goalkeepers in the world, he still has two and a half years left on his contract, we hope he stays with us for a long time."
