La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed that Nicolò Zaniolo, the former AS Roma player who is currently at Aston Villa (on loan from Galatasaray), wants to return to Serie A in the upcoming summer transfer window and is being targeted by three clubs in Serie A and they are: AC Milan, Juventus, and Fiorentina.

The Turkish club, Galayasaray, who had bought the player's services from Roma for 15 million euros plus potential 10 million euros in bonuses and 20% of a future resale, loaned him to the 'Villans' with a particular arrangement.

Specifically, it's a paid loan (3 million euros) with an obligation to buy linked to the fulfillment of certain conditions set at 22.5 million euros plus 15.5 million in bonuses. It is, however, unlikely that this clause will be triggered since Zaniolo is playing very little in England. This season, he has only played a total of 990 minutes in 27 overall appearances (an average of 36 minutes per game).

According to the newspaper, Zaniolo is therefore considering his options: he would like to return to Italy because not playing for Aston Villa doesn't help his career and certainly doesn't facilitate his future in the Italian National Team. In the event that the Premier League club does not trigger the buyout clause, he would return to Turkey and then leave immediately.

The right formula, however, must be found to satisfy the Istanbul club to let him go. With two turbulent seasons, it's unlikely that Fiorentina, Juventus, or Milan will approach the Turkish club with an offer for a permanent transfer. It's probable that whoever lands Zaniolo will do so by presenting a loan proposal with a purchase option.

Alternatively, if it's a permanent transfer, perhaps a swap of players with a technical counterpart. Fiorentina, Juventus, and Milan in the past, as relayed by Pianeta Milan have already considered signing Zaniolo. They have also thought of the idea of including him in their squad, but they have always stopped, for different reasons, before reaching an agreement.
