The match has begun at Roazhon Park with Stefano Pioli's team lined up with a 4-3-3 formation module: Maignan; Florenzi, Kjaer, Gabbia, Theo Hernandez; Musah, Bennacer, Reijnders; Pulisic, Jovic, Leao.

As for Rennes, they started with this 4-4-2 lineup: Mandanda; G.Doué, Omari, Theate, Truffert; D. Doué, Santamaria, Bourigeaud, Terrier; Gouiri, Kalimuendo.

The match already started in a good pace for the Rossoneri. Leao takes the ball as usual from the left flank and takes on his opponent, and tries a left-footed shot, Mandanda blocks the Portuguese's shot around the second minute.

Another sprint for Rafael Leao, which in the 8th minute is stopped at the last minute by Theate, who also succeeds in not conceding a corner.

Two minutes later, Rennes have scored a goal thanks to a powerful shot from their number 14, Benjamin Bourigeaud.

Fourteen minutes in, Rennes are looking more confident, with a crowded stadium pushing them on. They are relying on pace and look lively and enthusiastic in their attempts to find a second goal. Milan, though, are trying to keep the ball for themselves more while looking to exploit space left by Rennes.

Around the 16th minute, Christian Pulisic received a nice cutback by Theo Hernandez. The American, however, failed to time his shot well. He lost the ball in the penalty box.

The equaliser came from Luka Jovic. He took advantage from a well-delivered and accurate cross from Theo Hernandez. The Serbian's header around the 22nd minute found the net (watch here)

At the 26th minute, Mike Maignan makes a strong save but the ball goes to a corner, which led to nothing for Rennes.

Rennes' Algerian player Amine Gouiri gets into the penalty box and shoots, but the ball hits Kjaer. Désiré Doué, however, gets the ball and aims for the top left angle of Maignan, but it is safely saved.

Danger for Milan's defence at the 42nd minute: Bourigeaud's cross for Arthur Theate, who only just brushes it with his head.

End of the first half. Rennes 1 - Milan 1.

In the 54th minute, Bourigeaud scores his second goal in the match, making it 2-1. Then Leao in the 59th minute, equalises in a great action and a lovely sprint, showcasing his speed and amazing skills (watch goal here).

In the 65th minute, VAR called the referee for a potential penalty kick due to a handball on Luka Jovic. Upon reviewing the reply on the TV screen, the referee decided that it's a penalty.

Benjamin Bourigeaud stepped in and he scores against Maignan the penalty and makes it a hat-trick for himself in the 67th minute.

Mike Maignan received a yellow card for wasting time in the 79th minute.

Luka Jovic had the chance to equalise and make it 3-3 against Rennes. He was running towards the goal, but he failed to score as the French team's defender caught up to him. The Rossoneri forward lost the ball.

In the final minutes of the match, Rennes continue to attack with shots from outside the box, but Mike Maignan made important saves.

Final whistle at 90+5. AC Milan lost away from home against Rennes 3-2. However, they qualify on aggregate 5-3 and access the next round of the Europa League.
