The Italian newspaper Tuttosport in today's print edition highlighted the ongoing investigation by the Milan Prosecutor's Office regarding the sale of the AC Milan club from Elliott to RedBird, which took place in 2022.
The source also spoke specifically about a theory which has gone viral in social media.
The Prosecutor's Office is investigating the actual ownership of the Rossoneri club (the suspicion being that Elliott is some sort of 'hidden owner' behind RedBird) and has named Ivan Gazidis and Giorgio Furlani, respectively former and current CEOs of Milan, as suspects for 'obstructing the oversight activity of the Italian Football Federation (F.I.G.C.)'.
According to fans on social media, Marcello Viola has become the one responsible for the investigation into Milan's sale. Viola has been the Chief Prosecutor of Milan since April 2022 and openly declares himself a big fan of Inter. As if that weren't enough, the Turin-based newspaper continued, to strengthen the accusation of bias against him, images circulate of a lunch meeting dated June 2022 between Viola and Inter executives Giuseppe Marotta and Alessandro Antonello.
It was an institutional meeting, but on social media, it's perceived as conclusive evidence of an ongoing conspiracy.
It matters little that Marcello Viola, as the Prosecutor of Milan, has been investigating neo-fascist and 'ndrangheta infiltrations in the Inter Curva Nord for months. "No, Viola is an Inter fan, and that's why he's investigating Milan. It's obvious, especially in today's world where conspiracy theorists abound, that this Interista faith could be seen as something to embroider upon," commented Tuttosport, as relayed via Milan News.
