AC Milan's star, Rafael Leao, spoke to the media in a press conference ahead of the match against AS Roma, valid for the second leg fixture of the Europa League quarter-finals. Here are his words:
"All of us, including myself, didn't perform well in the first leg and we lost. But we regained confidence in Reggio Emilia (vs Sassuolo), because we showed energy, we didn't give up. After the Sassuolo match, we were all together in the dressing room, we talked: we know the importance of this match. Now we have two very important matches for this season."
On feelings after the first leg:
"I was disappointed because I could have done more, not because I didn't try. Then there are games where you're there and you're not, that's how you grow."
On the challenge with Dybala, Leao said:
"I don't like these comparisons. In my opinion, Dybala is very strong, I like him, he gives me joy watching him, he does different things: in modern football there are few players who do different things. After the match, he talked to me, gave me advice, I have a good relationship with him. We are both strong."
On being a leader in the press conference:
"There could have been someone else, but yes: I want to be a leader not here, but on the field."
On criticism, Leao said:
"I think in terms of challenges, then you're at Milan: there will be criticism. If we're here it's because we have quality, but the pressure we have is good."
On what was missing in the first leg:
"It was details, they were stronger in the details. Tomorrow will be another game. We'll have to make fewer mistakes."
More difficulty when there's a fight?
"In my opinion, I've learned in Italy to play a different style of football. I have to find the best way on the field to solve this flaw, I have to improve. But I learn every day."
Regarding the duels against Zeki Celik and Stephan El Shaarawy duel:
"It's a challenge for me. I will have to find a way to get past with my teammates. I think it will be another game. Then it's not just an individual matter: when the team is doing well, my talent and all my qualities come through."
Will you play for Stefano Pioli?
"We play for all of us. For Milan. If we play well, we are happy for ourselves, for the coach, and for everyone who works at Milan."
