AC Milan are still working on making the first signing this summer. As told by CEO Giorgio Furlani, the club will only make a few targeted purchases to reinforce the team and improve its quality.

The names being followed by the Rossoneri management are 25-year-old Brazilian right-back Emerson Royal from Tottenham, 25-year-old French midfielder Youssouf Fofana from Monaco, and 31-year-old striker Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid

These players, however, have not yet joined the Rossoneri for one simple reason: Milan has not yet made the decisive moves, but continues to work confidently to resolve these situations.

Emerson Royal wants nothing but Milan, he even spoke about his admiration towards the Rossoneri club and said these words to   Andre Hernan’s YouTube channel: "The truth is that I still don’t have anything defined. Obviously, to know that Milan is in conversation with the club [Spurs], they are looking for information on me, for me, it is very gratifying because Milan is a team known for having Brazilian players, right. We know there have been some great Brazilians to have played for them. Let’s wait and see what’s going to happen."

These words are not said lightly, as Emerson Royal's desire for Milan and Geoffrey Moncada's conviction led to an agreement on a five-year contract worth 2 million euros according to Il Corriere dello Sport. However, for this deal to go through, the Rossoneri management must reach an agreement with Tottenham, which remains firm on its initial request of 20 million euros. Furlani does not want to go beyond 15 million euros, which is why the Rossoneri CEO might leverage the (strong) will of the player to ease Tottenham's stance.

The same argument made for Emerson Royal can also be applied to Youssouf Fofana. The French midfielder only wants Milan and demonstrated this by rejecting an important offer from the Premier League about 20 days ago. His move to the Rossoneri, though, will not happen until the Milan management finds an agreement with Monaco.

The Monegasque club continues to ask for 25 million euros to let Fofana leave, too much for a player whose contract expires next summer, and here too, Milan might leverage the player's will to gain an advantage in the negotiations.
