AC Milan's priority is to sign a centre back. One of the targeted profiles is the name of heavily linked French defender from RC Strasbourg Mohamed Simakan who can play as a right-back as well as central defender.
The 20 year-old player is close to joining the Rossoneri squad in this transfer market window. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, he is only one step away. There have been contacts in the last few days and now the gap btween offer and demand is really thin.
In fact, Milan's offer reached €14M with an addition of another €3M in the form of bonuses. RC Strasbourg, from their part, lowered their claims from €20M to €18M. Therefore, the distance between the two clubs is really just one million euro, counting bonuses. We have now entered a decisive phase of negotiations.
Simakan and his entourage spoke clearly with Strasbourg: they prefer Milan, writes Gazzetta, the white smoke can arrive by the weekend, assuming that there is already a general agreement with the player over a 5-year contract deal.
