Massimiliano Mirabelli, was the sporting director of AC Milan in the era of the Chinese ownership until he had to leave in 2018 when Elliott management took over the Rossoneri club. The former director gave an interview to Tuttosport. These were his words:
"I hope Gigio Donnarumma stays with Milan just like Hakan Calhanoglu. Mino Raiola is a very tough person to deal with. The timing leaves me amazed: assuming that an agreement is found, renewing the contract so few months before the deadline will certainly cost dearly . I got to the extension well before that. Milan today, on the other hand, waited a long time. Too much . Maybe in the end you still manage to renew, but you get hurt on the balance sheet."
"Even today 5 or 6 starters were under our management. But, I would never have sold two important young talents like Locatelli and André Silva. A nice Milan was being born with us, green and strong. We created the basis. If today the team is at the top, a good 50% comes from our work."
