The Milan Women's team won the last match against Hellas Verona, having now collected 30 points out of 33 possible, an incredible mark, setting another one with that being the seventh league victory in a row for the rossonere. However, the milanisti should have keep an eye also on the Napoli Women's team, especially in their defensive perfomances.
Last December 5, Milan annouced the signing of the 20 years-old icelandic defender Guðný Árnadóttir, from Valur Reykjavík. As our defensive sector this season is very well covered, they decided to let her go, on a dry loan, to Napoli Women's team until the end of this season, so she can have more playing minutes and adapt to the league and the italian calcio.
There, she took the number 2 and has been a starter since, playing all the 180 minutes against Hellas Verona and Roma in the 10th and 11th round, respectively, in the league. Though the partenopei had lost both games, Árnadóttir managed to come out with very good numbers for a newcomer in Serie A.
So far she has 7 interceptions, 6 blocked shots, won 72,7% of the ground duels and 100% of the aerial duels. When it comes to passes, she had had an 65,3% of accuracy (66 corrects out of 101 passes) and 37,9% of accuracy on long balls (11 out of 29 long balls). For comparision, Laura Fusetti, one of the top defenders in Serie A, having played as a starter all the 11 league games for Milan, have similar numbers in ground duels (75%), aerials duels (69,2%)and passes accuracy (76,5%).
Although Napoli is now at the bottom of the table, with only 1 point, our loanee so far has been impressive and next season will surely become one the contenders for a place in the rossonere lineup.
