Stefano Pioli spoke to Sky after the game against Atalanta which ended in a heavy loss 0-3. He had this to say:
“We had started well, we put many players into attack. It’s disappointing the way we conceded the first goal on a set piece, then the second goal closed the game. We had time, but were unable to find a way back into the match.”
“We could’ve done more, we knew that we had to defend better. The marking was also not great, but we could have intercepted the cross earlier too in the goal.”
“It’s a very competitive league, we know it’s difficult, but we are up there at the top and we want to have our say.”
“Atalanta did better than us this evening, a defeat can happen against such a strong team. It’s frustrating, the second goal, as we just lost belief after it.”
“Meité? I thought we needed a more physical midfielder there, their positions are particular. Having Diaz on the bench would have allowed me to include a player with other characteristics, better at dribbling and one-on-one.”
