Fikayo Tomori gave his first interview as a Milan player to Milan TV. This is what the newest addition of the club said:
"I chose to come to Milan because it is a team with a great history with great players. Obviously now the team is in a good moment and it is an opportunity that I could not say no to. For me it is a great honor to be here."
On Maldini's phone call:
"When they called me for the first time I was surprised, then I spoke to Paolo Maldini, the best defender in the history of football, he asked me to come here. From there I understood that this is where I wanted to be, where I wanted to come and play. Also to learn from him. Now I'm very happy to be here."
On his own qualities and traits:
"Off the pitch I am a very calm person, very serene. I like to spend time with family and friends and be very focused. On the field I am very aggressive, I like to go and get the ball and take it to the opponents. I like being a defender, I like to defend and help the team win. It is the attitude I want to have and that I will bring to this team."
On the past of Milan:
"Paolo Maldini, as I said before, is the best defender ever. When I was little and I played as a forward or midfielder, I loved seeing someone like Kakà play, or even someone like Seedorf. Having the chance to play. wearing the jersey they wore is an incredible honor. If I have even half the success they have had here it will be a great experience."
On the players and coach Pioli:
"I talked to the coach and he was very happy with my arrival, obviously I am too. He gave me the motivation to play and give my best. I spoke to some who have already played here or with Italian teams, and from everyone I spoke to I only heard excellent things about Milan. But beyond that, for me there was only Milan."
On the experience of being at Milan:
"Being here is a great opportunity for me to grow and win trophies. The history of Milan is the history of a club used to winning. And I'm sure that this season, and the future, will be no different."
On why he chose the number 23:
"As soon as I saw 23 free, being 23, I thought: 'Ok, I'll choose 23' '. I am very inspired by Michael Jordan and he wore the number 23. I thought it made a lot of sense for me to choose. 23 and I hope it is a number with which I can be successful."
On Milan's history:
"Playing football is beautiful, but obviously it is more when you win and that's why I came here. This team knows how to win, when in the museum I saw the Champions League, the Scudetti, all of them the trophies, I understand that this is what I want to achieve while I am here. I am very happy and I really, really want to start."
"I will give everything for this team, go Milan! I can't wait to see you at San Siro."
