Matteo Musacchio signed for Lazio officially today. The 30 year-old defender had this to say on his Instagram profile as a goodbye message to the Milan club and fans:
"Hello Milan fans, I left Milan suddenly, without even having the time to digest a farewell that I had absolutely not planned but which is part of football. But I couldn't leave Milan without saying goodbye to you all and thanking you for welcoming me with the affection and warmth that only the Rossoneri fans can give.
When I chose Milan three and a half years ago, it was by no means an easy choice. I was leaving the team where my career had taken shape. But the charm of the Rossoneri shirt is something that only you can understand and that is why I decided to speak to you one by one with this message of mine. Milan saw the birth of my two children and represents what until yesterday I thought was my second home. It will surely remain in the heart, since the emotions experienced between the pitch and daily life cannot be canceled by professional choices that sometimes cannot be addressed as the heart would. But it still remains a day where emotions confuse the mind, leaving room for the images and memories of my adventure with the Milan shirt that I have tried to honor in every moment of my day.
I had the privilege of wearing the Milan shirt, sweating it up for the good of the team, of doing it in one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world and in front of fans and a curva that with its heat can really make your heart beat. All this deserved a professionalism that I have always tried to apply day after day, respecting the choices of the club and those of the coach who sat on the bench. Loving Milan and the AC Milan fans also means this and I tried to do it until the last minute I took the field. I cannot forget all the people who work for Milan every day and who have allowed me to concentrate on the pitch, without anything distracting my attention from the only real goal, giving everything for the team.
Thanks to all the coaches who trained me, to their respective staff and to all the team-mates with whom I shared the stages of my journey in the Rossoneri. I wish everyone much joy and luck for the continuation of the championship. Forever in my heart."
