Sebastiano Rossi, former Rossoneri goalkeeper, commented on the Ibrahimovic-Lukaku incident during the Coppa Italia quarterfinals derby to Gazzetta dello Sport. This is what he had to say:
"These are situations on the pitch that can exist even when there is a bad show. What happened was a little too much. The referee had to intervene first by giving a warning immediately. That was not the case and the brawl escalated. At that point, for me, the players had to be sent off."
On the racist accusations:
"I won't go into his merits but Ibrahimovic is the point of reference for the whole group and he intervened in defense of Romagnoli. I, too, would have done the same."
On the derby result:
"Inter deserved the victory as they passed to the next round of the Coppa Italia. On an individual level, perhaps they are superior to AC Milan. The Rossoneri have a solid club and a champion who guides them and will continue to do so. We came out of the competition and as a fan, I'm sorry. But it's football. For the Scudetto everything is open and we are first."
