AC Milan strengthened the team well in the previous mercato session of the January month, especially with the signing of Mario Mandzukic. The 34 year-old former Juventus attacker signed a 6-month deal with the club as he hopes to convince the Rossoneri to renew his stay for next season.
As reported today by the daily newspaper of Il Corriere dello Sport, "Mandzukic's time has finally come." The Croatian will play another segment of the match on Saturday against Spezia. But, between the Europa League, where he should actually play there as a starter, and the derby, his rotation will be fundamental.
As for Saturday, on the left wing, it is a ballot between Ante Rebic and the versatile Portuguese talented young player Rafael Leao.
The experienced 31 year-old Dane defender Simon Kjaer is available as he seems to have recovered from his injury which he suffered 20 minutes into the derby against Inter in the Coppa Italia quarter-final. However, the Rossoneri coaching staff does not intend to rush him back to the field. The aim is to have him at his best physical condition, ready to be of use in the league derby match on February 21.
