The rossonere reached the semifinals of the Coppa Italia this Saturday after a goalless draw against Sassuolo at the Vismara thanks to the away goal scored in the first leg by Giacinti. The fixture was not broadcasted anywhere, but the AC Milan twitter official account and Luca Maninetti, from Milannews24.com live tweeted the most important moments, giving us some topics to focus:
A nervous match
After the elimination for Fiorentina at the Supercoppa, this was the first knock-out game for the AC Milan Women’s team and, by the look of it, some players let the pressure get the best of them, like Laura Agard, who received an avoidable yellow card, and Rafiloe Jane, with an unusual lackluster performance. There was even a harsh argument between Veró and Pirone caused by the lack of fair play by the neroverdi for not kicking ball out of bounds to stop play while Giacinti was on the ground.
Milan must play the whole game.
Once again, the AC Milan Women’s team seems to switch off between the halves of the game. In the first, they had an exceptionally good game, performing well offensively and creating some chances while defending competently, especially Spinelli, who kept Bugeja at bay all the time. However, after halftime break, they looked a bit lost in a mix of fear and apprehension and let Sassuolo take over.
Lack of accuracy strikes again.
Tucceri-Cimini, Bergamaschi, Giacinti and Natasha Dowie have had good chances to break the deadlock in the match, but the lack of accuracy keeps taking its toll over and over. With players like Veró and Hasegawa on the field, creating chances, Milan must be better and convert them.
Yui Hasegawa debut
At minute 67, Ganz replaced Jane and Grimshaw, both having a bad game, with Mauri and Hasegawa. The Japanese international has given us some flashes of her quality creating precious chances that Dowie and Giacinti failed to convert.
Even with all those problems, the most important thing is Milan is through to the semifinals and will face the winner of the Fioretina – Internazionale clash tomorrow.
