Gianluca di Marzio spoke of the Rossoneri's transfer market in January with much praise. This is what he had to say:
"There was zero outlay of money spent, or almost, for the big clubs, due to the current economic situation. AC Milan is now first in the standings and were among the most active clubs in the mercato. They made three operations during the mercato: two of them were on loan, Soualiho Meité from Torino and Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea with the Englishman's buy-option set at around 28 million euros. On the free agent market, there was the opportunity of Mario Mandzukic."
