The Italian Referees Association (AIA) has a new president and his name is Alfredo Trentalange.
The candidate beat outgoing president Marcello Nicchi with 193 votes to 125. A fairly clear victory, which demonstrates a need for change at the top.
Nicchi was the architect of the division between CAN A and CAN B in the now distant 2010. A decision that did not cause a sensation at the time, but that saw the President himself take a step back at the beginning of this season.
With the reunification there have been several alternations between Serie A and Serie B and the system seems to work better. Nonetheless, today's vote has sanctioned the need for a new face in the AIA .
