CorSera: Serbian government rejects Red Star’s request to have fans in the stadium

Supporters of FC Red Star Belgrade (FK Crvena zvezda) display a banner reading, "In honour to all Serbian generals in the Hague" during a derby soccer match between Red Star and Partizan at the Marakana stadium in Belgrade, on November 17, 2012. A dramatic acquittal of former generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on November 16 provoked anger in Serbia. As reported by Il Corriere della Sera in their print edition, Red Star Belgrade would like to have the support of their fans in view of the European match against Milan on Thursday evening.

In particular, the club coached by Inter legend Dejan Stankovic would have asked the competent bodies for the influx of fans to the stadium for 30% of the capacity.

However, it is said that the response of the Serbian government was not long in coming and decided to reject the Belgrade club's request.

The government decided to reject Red Star's request due to the Coronavirus infections.

This can only serve as good news for the Rossoneri team as the presence of the fans there is a motivation for the opposing team.

Meanwhile, mister Stefano Pioli and his team are preparing calmly at Milanello.

The Italian technician is thinking of making some rotation in the starting lineup. You can read the probable lineup here.
