AC Milan will have to return home with a useful result 2-2, but the draw has a bitter taste since the defense conceded an equaliser in the last minutes of the game on a set-piece.
Coach Stefano Pioli spoke to Sky Sport's microphones after the match. Here are his words:
"The desire has nothing to do with it. There was a lack of quality to score the third goal. We deserved to win, in numerical superiority we didn't have to concede anything against them. We made the game, even though we made mistakes, we created a lot and even conceded something. We were quite compact, we allowed thel to restart. We had the victory in hand, we had to find the third goal. In any case, a good result for the return."
"We need to analyze our matches well and raise the level of performance, it's an important moment of the season and we have important commitments. We can do better."
On Ismael Bennacer's injury:
"The really sore point is his relapse. We thought we had done everything to be safe. Too bad, he's a boy who was growing up and now he's sorry he has to stop again."
Physical issue of the team?
"No, a broader evaluation must be made. Months ago we had many injuries. We must rediscover the condition of those who have returned and manage others. Physically we are fine. The personality was lacking to close the game."
On the derby:
"The derbies have always been balanced and with goals, I think those who manage to concede less will have more chances of winning. We have our qualities, they have theirs. The challenge comes at the right time, we want to be ready."
