The derby defeat against the Nerazzurri came after frustrating performances of Stefano Pioli's squad in the Serie A league (a loss to Spezia away) and in Europa League (a 2-2 draw that has a bitter taste after not being able to hold on for the win in the last minutes).
In view of the team's performances and to talk about the overall squad's level especially after the derby, Sky Sport's journalist Manuele Baiocchini said the following:
"This has been the most difficult and complicated week for Milan, especially from the point of view of results with 2 defeats in the league and a draw in the Europa League."
"Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara were present this morning to follow the team closely. Milan has dropped compared to their start, and the average points have also dropped. From an average of 2.5 points in the first 8 games, it has gone to an average of 1.4 in the last 7 games played."
