Jonathan Ikoné is a right-winger who is one of the French Ligue 1 rising stars. He is pacey, technical and an intelligent player with decent numbers. He was reportedly linked with the Rossoneri recently.
Talking about the transfer news associating the player's name to the Rossoneri, among other clubs like city rivals Inter, journalist Loic Jégo, spoke to Jeunesfooteux.com
On Jonathan Ikoné's departure from Lille in the next mercato session:
"It's far too early to talk about it. Will he be champion with his club? Will he go to the Euro cup with the French national team, in which case his value will rise? Will he still improve his stats in Ligue 1 by the end of the season? And above all: will he really want to leave Lille OSC? Because in the end, he feels good, evidenced by this magnificent atmosphere in the locker room and the excellent results of LOSC in Ligue 1. To sell him for 30M € would not be scandalous in view of the current context, but we must not forget that PSG will have 40 or 50% on the next resale... So for me, Olivier Létang (Lille's president) would have no interest in accepting an offer lower than at least 40 M. In any case, in relation to these possible interests of Inter Milan and AC Milan, I do not see him playing in a league like Serie A, or the Premier League for that matter. For me, the ideal championship for Ikoné: it would be the Bundesliga." said Loïc Jégo, before continuing:
"But again, we're not there yet, because a lot can happen for him, both in club and on a personal level. He has a little less playing time this season, but he is still effective and must still improve his stats to reach a milestone. Christophe Galtier has established a healthy competition between him, Luiz Araujo, Yusuf Yazici, but also Timothy Weah who continues the matches. It is beneficial for him, in his progress, because he knows he is not entitled to the slightest relaxation. Jonathan Ikoné still has a large margin of progress, he is young, and I will see him stay at least one more season in Lille. He must be more of a killer in the last movements and find the right balance between “going to strike” and “giving the ball.” He has a future in the French national team and must be ambitious by keeping the Euro in a corner of his head."
