Today the newspaper La Repubblica shared the reason why this year is crucial for Milan to qualify for the Champions League competition.
AC Milan's budget has been in the red zone for years, due to exaggerated and often misplaced investments, but also due to the net decline in revenues. This lowering is also recently due to the global pandemic from Covid-19, which forced football clubs to deal with it.
In fact, the revenues from sponsors and the mercato sessions are therefore falling. It is enough to say that in terms of incoming and outgoing transactions, Milan has an imbalance of 20.8 million euros. It is a number not so alarming, if you think that the club has managed, with the lowering of the wage bill, to bring the general debt down to 105 million euros.
Therefore, the Champions League is a must for Milan. By qualifying for the 2021-2022 group stage, the Rossoneri would have a base income already close to € 60 million.
Actually, the qualified clubs would earn more than 15 million euros just for participation in the groups. To this must be added the slice of the market pool assigned to each Federation (for Italy about 250 million euros to be divided into four).
Not to mention the revenues from the bonuses obtained for the television rights and the results obtained in the same competition.
