Luca Maninetti, from Milannews24.com, spoke exclusively to us about AC Milan Women's defeat against Juventus in Serie A matchday 15, the rossonere's performance and the expectations for the rest of the season.
On the game:
"I think the midfield made the difference. Rita Guarino prepared very well for the challenge: she left possession of to Milan but offered didin't offered any room for them to play in the last 30 meters, and at the slightest mistake, struck on the counter-attack. If Giacinti, however, had scored in the second half ahead of Giuliani at 2-0, it would have been a different ending."
On the performance:
"Compared to the last few games it was a step back, especially defensively, Spinelli was distant from the player we know. Defensive line at times wrong. The team, in the first thirty minutes, seemed almost afraid of Juve's strength. After 2-0 something changed but Fusetti's mistake and them 3-0 settled the game."
On Ganz's choices during the game:
"When you score two goals in 28 minutes it's never easy to recover. At that point, Rizza for Spinelli is justified by the fact that you are already losing 2-0 and to take another 3, I find this choice courageous and right, in short, it was worth the risk. More than anything, I would have made a different choice from the beginning: I would have preferred a player like Mauri or Conc rather than Grimshaw (skilled in insertion but struggling in the interdiction phase), but I do not have the competence to decide what is better to do. In those cases, we must trust those who know more about it".
On the Scudetto race:
"Difficult if not impossible, the seasonal goal for the rossonere, I remind, has always been to finish in second place, then qualification for the next Champions League. I never thought that Milan could play for the scudetto, but if one arrives at this point, it is always mandatory to try. It is now a must to digest this heavy defeat and think about defending this excellent position with your heart and then, why not win the Coppa Italia!"
