AC Milan head coach Maurizio Ganz gave an interview to Milan TV and shared some interesting insights on his renewal, personal goals, the upcoming Derby della Madonnina this weekend on the Coppa Italia semifinal and his thoughts on team captain Giacinti.
Here Ganz' complete interview:
On his renewal:
“I am incredibly happy, the club has given me this great opportunity to share, to be here during this two and half seasons with my excellent staff and our great players, so thank you all and it is a great honor for me to coach AC Milan next year.”
On hist bond with AC Milan:
“It’s a fantastic bond, I think. It started when I was a player and continued with me as a coach. My dream is definitely to try to achieve something important as a coach to this club. I won the scudetto in 1998/1999 as a player with the Milan shirt and I dream of being able to win also as a coach together with my staff and all our players.”
On the proximity and trust of the Club:
“The trust of the club is something very important. They follow us, they are very attentive to what happens in our league, in our group and in our season. We have important goals to achieve this season, it will not be easy, but I am here and ready to give 100%.”
On what amazed him the most and what needs to improve:
“What amazes me is the will of the players, the determination and desire, from the Italian parties and players but, above all, from foreign players because it is not easy to change lifestyle, change country, to arrive here in Italy with a very difficult league, so they are always available to fight, work really hard and, as I always say, for a coach is much easier to be able to train with players like this. What must we improve? Well, we need to improve the mentality, to be able to turn the tide on the difficult games during the league, because we are on the right path, important players are coming and therefore the whole Italian league is improving a lot.”
On his personal goals:
“My goal must be the goal of everything and everyone at AC Milan, to improve all year round, improve the players and try to bring something important home at the end of the season.”
On the his moments with AC Milan as a coach:
“Well, I think the best moments have been, winning 4 consecutive derbies, this gives you great feelings and great awareness of being ready for this great competition, for this great match. And then I think the most beautiful moment was the 2-2 against Juventus at Brianteo last year. It was an important moment for us, for the players above all, and for all the Ac Milan fans.”
On the Rossonere:
“They are great warriors, that’s the most important thing, I think. They never give up and they always do the training and the matches always at the top and they come out of the field and training without ever a complain, this I think is a great value and I will always thank them.”
On Giacinti:
“I think you have to get on the pitch and score one or two goals a game. This, I think, as striker I would never forget then, clearly, it's so important you can help the team when you go on the pitch. When we win with her goals, it's clear that the team must receive support and credit for they created those great opportunities for her.”
On the Coppa Italia Derby della Madonnina:
“It is an important Derby in the Coppa Italia but it’s played in the 180 minutes, this we must never forget. Then, there is also the league derby that is, instead, played in 90 minutes we much of our league goals depends on that game.”
