The Serie A resume play this weekend and AC Milan is set to host Empoli at the Vismara Sport Center on Sunday, at 12:30 pm CET. After two major defeats against Juventus, in the last Serie A matchday, and Internazionale, in the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg, the rossonere must win this fixture to show strength as a team and, more important, to not put in jeopardy the second place on the table.
Match History
AC Milan and Empoli have faced each other twice in total, each with a victory.
First ever face off
Their first encounter was on the 2019/2020 season, at the Brianteo Stadium, and the Tuscans beat the rossonere 2-1 with goals from Prugna and Di Guglielmo, while Tucceri Cimini pulled one back for the hosts.
Last game
The last game between those two sides was on this season’s Serie A Matchday 5, October 10, when AC Milan won 3-nil, with Jane, Giacinti and Tucceri-Cimini on the scoresheet, at the Monteboro Sport Center.
Change of formation ahead?
This fixture against Empoli was the first time when Ganz's team played a 3-5-2 formation, right after losing to Juventus 1-nil at the San Siro. Now, after the failed comeback to the 4-3-1-2 formation in the loss to Internazionale, once again Ganz might turn to the back three against the Tuscans.
Players set to return
Rafiloe Jane were out of the last 2 games due to an injury, while Giorgia Spinelli and Veró Boquete, both with light muscular injuries, missed the Coppa Italia game. It seems that all of them have recovered and might be able to play this Sunday.
The goalscoring leftback
Left winger and fullback Linda Tucceri Cimini is the only player in the AC Milan squad to have scored both times the rossonere faced Empoli until now.
