AC Milan head Coach Maurizio Ganz and defender Laura Fusetti spoke to the Milan TV microphones about the game against Empoli and their expectations for the rest of the season.
Here their words:
Ganz:
"We suffered, especially in the last two games, so getting back on track became decisive and we played a great race. Probably having to always enter the field to win sometimes takes a toll, raises the pressure, but we don’t have all easy moments. We must always, make a result, but getting the victory is no longer so easy on the pitch and try to get them. We have created a lot that goal scoring opportunities, like 6,7 times, I think, and they have to be better at closing it first because then otherwise it goes into difficulty at the end of the game.
Empoli a very good team, they hit the crossbar, a free kick, at the end they had interesting game situations. so, Milan have to be much better at when it's time to close the game and then meet some last-minute surprises.
There are six finals, I mean, seven because there will also be the second leg of the Coppa Italia, we know it will be hard, but we are all going to give on hundred percent of us all to get to the final goal. I told the girls that we must fight as we did today because everything will be harder from now on."
Fusetti:
"To win today certainly was fundamental on a moral level because we come from two defeats, but also for the table because, of course, all the other teams want to do well and can't wait for us to take missteps, so today was really important. It has been difficult, however, we have shown that we are still in the race, in the sense that we fight and believe a lot and we have to learn to be a little more cynical, let's say, but we are on the right path. We got the points to get back up again and so we must continue like this.
Defeats teach not to make the same mistakes especially at the character level. Maybe what we miss most was the character so today the first thing we let in with character we wanted to do to help us we also tried to play and if we play with peace of mind and we are not afraid we can do things we showed we just have to continue like this.
We have 5 points from the third place Sassuolo but that doesn't mean anything. We have to think of the games from now, all as finals and on Sunday there will be the derby, it will be the first final, but then there will be another 5 so if we go in the pitch every game as if it were the decisive one, I think we will be able to continue to do well."
