AC Milan head coach Maurizion Ganz, striker and team captain Valentina Giancinti, defender and birthday girl Francesca Vitale spoke to the Milan TV microphones right after their comeback win over Internazionale on Serie A Matchday 17.
Here are their words:
Maurizio Ganz:
"It was like the other derby we played. We have created so much occasions but what jumps to attention is the finishing accuracy this time, while other times we have also created, maybe more, but didn’t managed to score that much. The team’s performance is the same even from last week and so, I think we deserved to win those 5 derbies we have won, and for me, I’m just incredibly proud of that and the girls have been wonderful today.
On the pitch, I see the pitch the team I want to see every game, with full collaboration from everybody, playing with such intelligent way, verticalizations, finding the right spaces to explore, smart choices that are fundamental because when we talk about those choices, we make them, then for the other team becomes difficult to face us."
Valentina Giacinti:
"I am happy, especially for the teamwork that we saw and as a result we managed to score four goals, so I am incredibly happy. We absolutely had to find some calmness, peace of mind among us and play a simple football, and today we expressed in the best way, a simple game which got us a great result. To win the derby is so great and we are so happy about it."
Francesca Vitale:
"I mean, it was such a nice birthday gift! We wanted to nick a win after the derby we had lost in the Coppa Italia semi-final, and, yes, we were looking for it, and to get it in my birthday is even more special. It was a nice game, we struggled a little at the beginning, we had some difficulty to adjust and to get in the right positions on the pitch, but then we found the right balance and we did well. We got to score four goals so everything great and obviously it’s much more special as it’s my birthday, but we hope to continue like this till the end of the season."
