Serie A matchday 32 the Rossoneri are heading toward the final curve of fixtures with hopes to seal a spot in the top 4 which would have them return to Champions League. The red and black faithful come off a 2-1 victory against Genoa in which last-minute heroic goal-line clearances from Fikayo Tomori and Simon Kjaer sealed 3 points for Milan. The team has not been defeated in 9 games with a record of 7 wins and 2 draws. Milan has been victorious in their last two meetings with Sassuolo in Serie A with the last victory coming with the fastest ever Serie A goal scored by Rafael Leao. Sassuolo sits in 8th with 46 points and Milan sits in 2nd with 66 points. The point tally Milan currently has equaled last season's 6th place finish that slightly got them into Europa League via the playoff method.
Pioli has got it right in the last couple of fixtures and needs to continue to get it right every point counts as the top 4 race continues to change every matchday, here is how his team could appear:
Milan 4-2-3-1: G. Donnarumma; Kalulu, Kjaer, Tomori, Dalot; Tonali, Kessié; Saelemakers, Çalhanoğlu, Leão; Rebić
A few names have been taken out of the matchday squad such as Theo Hernandez, Ismaël Bennacer, and Zlatan Ibrahimović. Defensively Milan is solid with the backline Tomori and Kjaer are arguably Milan's strongest center back pairing available. Tomori must do better on his positions but the two must work together as they did in the last fixture. Kalulu has earned the trust of Pioli and has shown throughout the season he can be counted on and Diogo Dalot has had a good run of form in the past couple of games. Tonali gets the nod whilst Bennacer is out we have seen some glimpses of some good football from him and he must continue to show that with this opportunity. Hakan Çalhanoğlu must provide the team with something these last stretch of games or it will look like he will be heading out the doors of Milan at the end of the season. Ante Rebić and Rafael Leão must work together to find the back of the net, Leão who scored in the previous fixture must do what he did then once again to catch Sassuolo off guard. And Rebić must have his shooting boots ready to find the back of the net as he did against Genoa. If the team works together despite missing some players the can be victorious.
