Manuele Baiocchini, correspondent of SkySport, commented live from Casa Milan on the club's market strategies regarding the purchase of a new striker:
"Making an investment in attack is in Milan's thoughts. In that position, Leao is not convincing, not so much for a few goals scored this season, but for the fact that in many games, especially in the last month and a half, he was often impalpable enough to force Pioli to have to change form. Milan wants to do it, giving Pioli an apprentice to Ibra, that is one who could become Ibra, but one that if he is not playing, due to the Swede, is on the bench without making a fuss. I think of Scamacca for the situation, to Vlahovic - even if he is taking on a slightly more important dimension-, to Malen of PSV, to Belotti of Torino, whose contract expires in 2022 and may be a market opportunity. The search goes on for Milan,".
Baiocchini touched on the unimpressive form of Rafael Leao as of late. The young Portuguese had a strong start to the season, mainly in the left wing position, but has struggled to find the back of the net in the center forward position. Ante Rebic has assumed the starting role of left wing, forcing Pioli to use Leao up front, which has not been favorable.
The reporter mentions a few transfer targets that have been linked to Milan, all of which offer promise. Gianluca Scamacca is a young talent that has impressed in the Seria A, much like Dusan Vlahovic out of Fiorentina. Vlahovic has even called Zlatan Ibrahimovic his "idol", which would fit the role well of of an apprentice to the Swede. Andrea Belotti has captained relegation bound Torino for the season, and has 12 league goals to his name. Donyell Malen too presents potential as a young talent out of the Netherlands and has scored 17 goals in the Eredivisie league this season.
