Former AC Milan forward Andriy Shevchenko in an interview with Corriere Della Sera magazine talked about his time with the Rossoneri.
"When I signed for Milan which was my first real contract, I refused to look at the figures on the contract. I got to Milan thanks to former director Ariedo Braida who saw something in me I didn't even know I had. Braida took Galliani to see me in Ukraine but on the night I performed below par but he defended me and when he came to my house to convince me to sign, he came with a Milan shirt with my name at the back".
"Braida said I will win the Golden ball but at that time myself and my father laughed but he was right. Our success on the pitch was not due to our talent but the quality of the individuals who were intelligent people, as a matter of fact, we all ended up being coaches or managers" Shevchenko said.
