As reported today, AC Milan fans met with Gianluigi Donnarumma outside Milanello where they touched on the subject of his renewal and even asked him not make himself available in the game against Juventus which is set to take place as matchday 35.
Paolo Maldini, AC Milan's sports director, spoke to ANSA about this matter. He had the following to say:
"It is important to firmly reiterate that no one outside of Milan can decide who plays and who renews. Certain choices are up to the coach as regards the pitch and the Club for contractual matters."
"From this moment, every single negotiation for renewals is frozen until the end of the season, to allow the team to focus solely on the league race. In the meantime, we will keep protecting our players as we have always done."
"The Milan fans, who have been great in supporting the team, must understand that at this moment the players need serenity and focus to face the coming matches that will be decisive. What happened on Saturday morning with Gigio does not help. Our players have the absolute professionalism even those who are expiring, they never lacked dedication to our cause."
