AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has spoken to Milan TV in the Milan-Benevento post-game:
The climate of intensity and concentration was already there since the warm-up?
"Yes, the team was good at dealing with the game well from a mental point of view. We wanted to react, proving not to be the one of the two defeats, to think positively and we did it, playing well from a technical point of view. It was heavy from a mental point of view: we are young and need get used to overcoming difficulties; I I am truly convinced that these difficulties will help us to grow in an important way ".
On the positive signs:
"From all the positive aspects we have to take something, whether they are motivations and emotions of the team or of the individuals to be transformed into energy. It will only count where we will be on May 23. We wanted and hoped to be here to play the Champions League and now we have to attack there with determination and concentration. This victory will help us to better prepare for the next match which is very stimulating, very motivating and which will weigh heavily on the standings".
On aggression and precision:
"I think that is one of the situations in which we have to find more compactness and solidity. We have not been so high and aggressive today, despite being lined up well under the ball and sometimes you can leave some markings on the insertions; do not be so careful and precise can create some difficulties for you that you can then pay for on a mental level: we must be more attentive, precise and solid".
On wasted chances:
"It is clear that a team that manages to create 11 scoring chances means that they built well, moved well and played with quality, but now it's time to create chances and take them home: it won't be easy to create 11 chances in the next match. We now have to be more concrete, more cynical and determined. The level of performance for the next match will have to rise. I am convinced that we have the qualities to do even better."
On the impact in the match:
"We were good mentally, because we could go down with fear, tension and nervousness. The team was lucid with a clear plan on how to take positions: from this point of view we did well".
